WINDPOWER 2018 Opening Reception

Monday, May 7, 5:00 - 7:00 pm

This year the Opening Reception will be held Monday evening within the Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier. This iconic location in Chicago is a beautiful indoor one-acre botanical garden under a six story glass atrium providing spectacular views of the Chicago Skyline, Lake Michigan and the Ferris wheel. This event will start off WINDPOWER with a unique networking opportunity for both attendees and exhibitors alike. A ticket to the Opening Reception is included in the All Access and All Access PLUS passes. 

WindPAC Reception

Monday, May 7, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

This year the WindPAC Reception will be held Monday evening on the patio of the Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier. The patio offers spectacular views of the Chicago Skyline and direct access to the Ferris wheel. WindPAC contributors will gain exclusive access from 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm to Navy Pier's new 196-foot "Centennial Wheel" Ferris wheel after the park closes to the public.

Networking Breaks and Lunches

Networking continental breakfasts and coffee breaks will be offered each day near the education stations within the exhibit hall, along with a variety of food concessions conveniently located on the show floor to maximize networking opportunities during lunch.

Meet-Ups

A variety of informal morning runs and networking meet-ups will be organized throughout WINDPOWER 2018.  More details will be posted closer to the show. 

Exhibition Happy Hour

Tuesday, May 8, 4:30 - 6:00 pm

Wrap up your first full day on the show floor with a networking happy hour throughout the exhibit hall.  Toast with existing and new business connections or use the time to visit nearly 400 exhibitors with a refreshing cold beverage in hand.

Poster Reception

Another excellent educational and networking opportunity is the Poster Reception which wraps up Wednesday in the exhibit hall.  Meet over a hundred poster authors and discuss their work during this reception.

After the exhibit hall closes but before you head home, be sure to check out one of these iconic Chicago activities while continuing to network with other attendees.  Space is limited for each tour and they may sell out ahead of time!

  • Chicago White Sox Stadium Tour
    (Thursday, 12:30 – 2:30 pm), $49 per ticket

    Opening in 1991, Guaranteed Rate Field has had a few identify crises (originally opened as Comiskey Park and then changing to US Cellular Field) but remains a constant source of pride for Chicago’s south-siders. Non-game day tours include the Stadium Club, Suite, press box, dug out, walk around the concourse and go out on the warming track.

    Transportation will depart from the convention center at 12:30 pm on Thursday with the tour from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.  Transportation will be provided back to the convention center or you are welcome to head out to the airport, hotels, or other nearby areas on your own if preferred.
  • Architectural River Cruise
    (Thursday, 12:30 – 3:00 pm), $49 per ticket

    Experience a fascinating, professional, and engaging architecture tour along the Chicago River on the #1 tour in the city based on TripAdvisor reviews.  Chicago Architecture Foundation-certified docents interpret more than 50 buildings along the Chicago River, telling stories of how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world’s largest cities in less than 100 years.  In 90 minutes, Chicago history is told through its architecture via captivating tales and breathtaking views. 

    Transportation will depart from the convention center at 12:30 pm on Thursday with the tour from 1:00 – 2:30 pm.  Transportation will be provided back to the convention center or you are welcome to head out to the airport, hotels, or other nearby areas on your own if preferred.
  •  Chicago Gangster Bus Tour
    (Thursday, 12:30 – 3:15 pm), $49 per ticket

    This live action gangster tour gives guests the inside story of Chicago’s windiest politicians, rollicking red-light districts and most notorious vice games.  During this 1 hour 45-minute tour, guests will be taken on a comfortable, interactive ride aboard a black, gangster bus through the history of Chicago’s gangster days in the famed Prohibition Era of the 1920s and 1930s, seeing all of the old mob hotspots and learning about the wild jazz-age exploits of famous Chicagoans Capone, Moran, Dillinger and more.

    Transportation will depart from the convention center at 12:30 pm on Thursday with the tour from 1:00 – 2:45 pm.  Transportation will be provided back to the convention center or you are welcome to head out to the airport, hotels, or other nearby areas on your own if preferred.
