DOE Collegiate Wind Competition

The U.S. Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition challenges interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate students from a variety of programs to offer a unique solution to a complex wind energy project using the three multi-faceted elements highlighted below; providing each student with real-world experience as they prepare to enter the wind industry workforce.

Schedule of Events:

  • Wednesday, May 9–Thursday, May 10: The teams’ turbines will undergo performance testing in the Collegiate Wind Competition wind tunnel, located in the W375 Ballroom across from the WINDPOWER exhibition hall.
  • Tuesday, May 8, 1:15–4:00 p.m., and Thursday, May 10, 9–10:15 a.m.: Watch the students deliver their project presentations on the Collegiate Wind Competition stage, located in the front of the Exhibition Hall.
  • Thursday, May 10, 11–12:30 p.m.: Come meet the brightest young minds in wind on your way out of the show! The Team Expo will be located around the team booths near the main entrance of the exhibit hall.
