AWEA WINDPOWER 2017 offers additional education opportunities before and after the conference. These additional pre- and post-conference seminars are a great way for attendees to participate in highly focused sessions in a more personal environment. It also provides speakers with the opportunity to share unique knowledge more suited to this setting. 

Pre-Conference Seminar: Engaging Communities in Project Development: Addressing Opposition and Amplifying Support

This highly interactive seminar has been designed by and for seasoned developers of U.S. wind farms, and is also applicable to those newer to the field who can gain from their experience. It will feature some of the latest research about the practices that yield successful wind and transmission projects. Small group discussions and a competitive exercise will enable attendees to connect and learn from one another.

Pre-Conference Seminar: Wind 101: Introduction to Wind Energy

This seminar will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of utility-scale wind power starting with an overview of the wind energy industry and markets, and covering essential topics such as technology, operations and maintenance, economics, resource assessment, siting and transmission. This seminar is the perfect primer for the more detailed conference program that follows, and will prepare you for conversations with other attendees at WINDPOWER 2017 and beyond.

Post-Conference Seminar:  NERC GADS Wind Training

NERC has implemented GADS reporting requirements for wind plants on a voluntary basis for 2017 with mandatory reporting starting in 2018, based on plant size. Learn how to register for access to the GADS Wind reporting application, data types and formats to report. Practical application of the GADS Wind Data Reporting Instructions will be covered, including outage definitions and coding. This training provides the fundamentals to prepare you for mandatory reporting to NERC.
