This year the American Wind Energy Association’s will again host a KidWind Challenge at the WINDPOWER 2012 Conference. The KidWind Challenge is a competition where students design, build and test 4 feet tall turbines in a wind tunnel with live data monitoring software to record their turbine power output.
At WINDPOWER 2010 in Dallas, TX and WINDPOWER 2011 in Anaheim, CA, hundreds of students and educators attended the KidWind Challenge with homebuilt turbines that were judged by engineers and performance tested in KidWind’s portable wind tunnel. Students were also able to tour the conference and learn from wind energy professionals.
Students don’t get to have all the fun! WINDPOWER attendees including wind industry leaders, government officials, and business executives, will also have a chance to design turbine blades and test them in KidWind’s portable wind tunnel on Monday, June 4. Prizes will also be awarded!
