You talk the talk, now you have an additional opportunity to walk the walk �
Green your travel to WINDPOWER 2008!

Again this year, AWEA and Community Energy, Inc. are partnering not only to offset the energy use of the conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center but also to offer attendees the opportunity to green their own travel during the registration process. On behalf of participating attendees, AWEA will purchase NewWind Energy� green tags (locally-produced, emission-free wind power supplied by Texas wind projects) from Community Energy, Inc.

As a proponent to the most environmentally-responsible, fastest growing energy sector world wide, you know that climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face. In addition to energy generation, carbon dioxide emissions associated with transportation is a well-known contributor to this global problem.

But you can be part of the solution! AWEA and Community Energy are providing you the opportunity to purchase carbon offsets to reduce the environmental impact of your car and flight travel to the conference. The Green-e certified emission-free Renewable Energy Credits will be sourced from wind projects in Texas. Every 10 miles of �greened� air travel represents an equivalent offset of 4.9 pounds of CO2 and every 10 miles of �greened� car travel represents an equivalent offset of 9.6 pounds of CO2. Various green travel options are provided as part of the on-line registration system. Simply choose the one that best matches your travel plans and add it into your conference registration once available.

Options include:

Travel by Air (round trip)

               - Air Travel from North West (approx. 4600 miles) = $31.20
               - Air Travel from East Coast (approx. 3200 miles) = $7.80
               - Air Travel from Mid West (approx. 1750 miles) = $4.55
               - Air Travel from Regional Area (approx. 700 miles) = $1.95

Regional Travel by Car (round trip)

               - 600 miles = $3.25
               - 400 miles = $1.95
               - 300 miles = $1.30
